Eyeblight Cullers

Creature — Elf Warrior4 generic manaBlack mana

Death is the payout here, not a downside to hedge against. A 3/3 for five that leaves nothing behind is a poor rate on its face, but the death trigger reframes the body as a delivery vehicle: block, chump, sacrifice, or die to a sweeper, and one creature becomes three, plus three cards fed to the graveyard on the way out. Both halves of the trigger are the point. Three 1/1 Elf Warriors is a batch, not a trickle, which makes this fuel for anything that scales with creature counts or wants a steady supply of expendable bodies: convoke, sacrifice engines, populate, "whenever a creature dies" drains. The self-mill rider does double duty, filling a black graveyard for reanimation or delirium while thinning nothing you wanted to keep, since you were already resigned to losing the creature. The sequencing built into the trigger is the detail worth noticing: tokens first, then the mill, so the three bodies exist before you disturb your library. A deck that spends its own creatures rather than protects them gets the most out of this. The tax on all that value is impermanence: a five-mana investment that only cashes out on death, and only once absent external recursion, which is exactly what keeps three-bodies-and-a-mill from arriving for free.
