SorceryBlue mana

Surgical removal aimed not at the battlefield but at the deck, which is what makes it such an unusual entry in blue's toolbox. Targeted library extraction predates this design (effects like Lobotomy did similar work), but most of those cost real mana and reached the hand or graveyard too. Here the price is a single blue, and the search happens in the opponent's library rather than against a card you must name in advance: you flip through and pull the piece before it is ever drawn. The trade-off is stark. This is a strict zero-for-one in the card-economy ledger; you spend a card from your own hand to delete one from a library, and nothing of theirs leaves play or hand to balance the books. What you buy with that card is certainty. Against a deck built around one irreplaceable piece, that certainty is the entire transaction: you spend a turn to remove the linchpin and turn their engine into a draw-step lottery. The shuffle clause is where the bargain stays honest. You cannot strip-mine a hand or stack the top of the library; the spell ends with their deck randomized again, so it remains narrow by construction rather than by rate. Against redundancy it does almost nothing; against a single point of failure it does everything. A scalpel needs a specific patient.
