EnchantmentGreen mana

The extra-land effect every ramp engine since has been priced against. A single green mana, paid once, doubles your land drops for as long as you have lands to play. The enchantment never decays, never asks for upkeep, never demands a trigger; it simply rewrites how many lands you set down each turn. What lets that one mana hold up is that the upside is uncapped only if you can keep feeding it. With a fistful of lands you are a turn ahead on every resource that matters; with an empty hand it sits inert, an idle permanent waiting for cards to enable it. The permanence and the bare rate are paid for entirely in card flow, which is the design's central bargain: nothing here limits the bonus except how much you can draw into it. Pair it with anything that loads lands into your hand and the ceiling climbs, which is why it became the canonical engine piece for landfall and land-recursion strategies long before either was a named theme. Later designs softened the same idea behind conditions (Burgeoning keys off opponents' land drops; Azusa caps the bonus and staples it to a creature), but none stripped the effect down this far. One green mana, an additional land each turn, no strings except the cards in your hand.
