Executioner's Hood

Intimidate is fear with a coat of paint, and stapling it to an Equipment is the design problem this card never quite solves. The keyword reads like raw evasion, but it is conditional on the equipped creature's own color: a black creature wearing this gets through anything that is not black or an artifact, while a colorless creature gets the cleanest version of all, since almost nothing shares its nonexistent color. That quirk is the only interesting wrinkle here, and it cuts against the card rather than for it: the more colors a creature has, the more bodies can legally block it, so the evasion shrinks exactly when you would want it to scale. Equipment math compounds the disappointment. Two to cast, two to equip means four mana invested before the creature ever swings, and what you buy is an evasion mode that a one-shot enchantment or a creature with the keyword printed on it delivers cheaper. Movable evasion has a real argument in the abstract, since you can re-arm a fresh threat after the first carrier dies, but intimidate is too soft a payload to justify the freight. This is the kind of common-rarity Equipment that fills out a set's gear slot and a beginner's first deck: honest, functional, and outclassed by nearly every evasion tool that asks for less commitment.
