Emissary of Grudges

Concealed information is the whole mechanic, and it turns a fairly ordinary red beater into a piece of table politics dressed as a permanent. The opponent chosen on entry is hidden information at a table built on open information: everyone can see the Efreet is capable of redirecting a spell, but only its controller knows whose spell will be redirected, so every player has to price in the possibility that their removal or targeted burn will get sent elsewhere before it resolves. That deterrence is doing more work than the redirection itself, because the ability is activated (note the colon), fires only once, and only works against the secretly chosen player, so the mere presence of the threat tends to shape how opponents sequence their turns far more often than the ability ever actually gets used. It answers spells rather than creatures: the redirect takes a targeted spell or ability from the chosen opponent that aims at you or your permanents and picks new targets for it, moving the effect rather than countering it. The design belongs to a small family of hidden-choice cards that ask a multiplayer table to guess at information it cannot see. What makes it awkward and interesting in equal measure is that the choice locks on entry: guess wrong about who your real threat is, and you are left with a 6/5 flier, a dead ability, and a bluff that stopped mattering the moment the wrong opponent started casting spells.
