Emeritus of Woe // Demonic Tutor

The trick here is the back half: Demonic Tutor, the single most efficient unconditional tutor black has ever printed, stapled to a creature as its Prepared payoff. Prepared is a delayed-casting mechanic: the creature arrives holding a copy of a spell you can fire once, and casting it "unprepares" the body until you re-arm it. Most Prepared creatures gate the reload behind a soft condition. This one asks for two creatures dead in a turn, checked at your end step, which is more demanding than the usual aristocrats threshold: it wants a board that trades and sacrifices, not one that sits still. That gating is doing real work, because the payoff is not a minor value trigger. Casting a copy of Demonic Tutor means fetching any card in your library to hand, no restriction, at sorcery speed. And the reload does not tax the body's other job: the 5/4 can swing all it likes, then any two deaths that turn (chump blockers, sacrifice fodder, the creatures it killed in combat) re-arm the tutor at end step. What changes is the graveyard math, not the attack step. It reframes a card that has always lived as a spell into a recurring engine bolted to a threat, and the recurrence is exactly as generous as your willingness to keep feeding creatures to the yard.
