Emergency Eject

Instant2 generic manaWhite mana

White has always paid a tax for unconditional removal, and this is the latest form the tax takes. Answering any nonland permanent at instant speed is a range white rarely gets to claim outright; the compensation is that its controller creates a Lander token, a delayed ramp-and-fix voucher they can cash for a basic whenever they have the spare mana. The design logic is a slow-motion trade: you get the answer now, they get a card's worth of eventual fixing and a modest ramp step later. That structure makes the card sharpest against permanents whose value dwarfs a single land drop (a resolved planeswalker, an engine artifact, a commander) and dullest against cheap threats, where the token's value approaches the thing you destroyed. It sits in a lineage of "removal that repays the target" effects, where the drawback is deferred rather than conditional: no restriction beyond the target being nonland, just a bill the opponent gets to settle on their own schedule. The Lander is the pressure release valve that lets white keep an answer this clean, and reading whether the deferred fixing matters in a given board state is the entire skill the card asks for.
