Embrace the Paradox

Instant3 generic manaGreen manaBlue mana

Simic has always paid a tax for card advantage, and this instant collects it in the least intrusive way the color pair has found. The draw-three at instant speed is the headline, but the land clause is what changes the calculus: a full turn's worth of cards refilled at end of turn, plus a free land drop off the top of the hand, means the spell functionally advances your mana while it advances your hand. That land enters tapped, and the second effect is optional, both small restraints that keep the ramp incidental rather than explosive. It is the difference between a raw draw spell and a tempo-neutral one; you are not spending a land drop to cast it, you are recouping one. Instant speed is doing quiet work here, letting you hold up interaction, cast it on the crackback, and dump the extra land only when you actually have one to spare. What it is not is cheap: five mana for three cards is above the historical Simic curve for pure card draw, and the payment is a real one. The land rider is the concession that justifies the rate, tucking a Growth Spiral-adjacent effect into the back half of a bigger spell rather than pricing it as a two-drop tempo play. It rewards decks that treat every draw step as a resource-development turn rather than a dig for a single answer.
