Elvish Eulogist

Creature — Elf ShamanGreen mana

Tribal payoffs usually push toward going wide or going tall; this one looks backward, converting a graveyard full of dead Elves into a life total. The body is incidental: a 1/1 that exists to die, with a sacrifice ability that scales off how many of its kin have already fallen. That makes it a creature most useful late, after the swarm has been ground down, an odd posture for a one-drop in a tribe built around flooding the board early. The payoff is gated by attrition, not accumulation: you bank value only after the deck has spent its Elves, so the card rewards grinding games rather than explosive ones. It sits in a small family of graveyard-counting life gain effects whose ceiling is entirely deck-dependent and whose floor, outside a tribe stuffed with Elves, is a 1/1 whose ability gains you just 1 life. The honest read is that this is a niche release valve against burn and aggression for a dedicated Elf deck, a way to convert the casualties of an attrition war into a life buffer once your creature-heavy board has traded itself away. Outside that home it does nothing worth doing, and the design knows it: the effect is deliberately narrow, priced as a common-rarity tribal incentive rather than a card meant to find a seat in any deck that is not already wall-to-wall Elves.
