Two effects stacked on one enchantment, and they pull in the same direction: turn every Elf into a threat the defender cannot profitably block, then bank a drain trigger every time one of those Elves trades away. The deathtouch clause is deliberately narrow, keyed only to attackers, so it rewards going wide and swinging rather than parking Elves back on defense: a squad of one-toughness dorks suddenly forces the kind of chump-or-lose-your-blocker math usually reserved for much bigger boards. The death payoff is where the two halves click together, because giving small Elves deathtouch makes them likely to trade in combat, and each of those deaths pings each opponent and refills your life. That makes the card a reward for the Elf archetype's own worst habit: throwing bodies away. This is Golgari attrition tribal at its most literal, converting creature exchanges into inevitability rather than card advantage: it grafts the aristocrats drain logic of black onto the mass-token engine of green Elves, so the small green dorks that flood the board become the ammunition for a black payoff. On its own it does nothing; anchored to a board already built to flood the table with Elves and recur them, it quietly turns every exchange into a life-swing you did not have to spend a card on.
