Efficient Construction
The trigger keys off the cast, not the resolution, which is the whole engine: it does not care whether your artifact spell resolves, whether it gets countered, or what it actually does, only that you put one on the stack. That makes the rate scale with how cheap your artifacts are. A deck full of zero- and one-mana artifacts (mana rocks, equipment, trinkets that exist to be cast) turns this into a steady stream of flying bodies, each cast adding a Thopter regardless of board state. The design lives in the same family as Whirler Rogue and the broader Thopter-token tradition: take a token-generation reward and attach it to an action a dedicated deck was already taking dozens of times. What separates it is the breadth of the qualifier. "Artifact spell" is one of the widest cast-triggers blue has at this cost, and in an artifact-saturated build it does not ask you to change a single thing about how you play; the tokens accrue as a tax-free dividend on activity you wanted anyway. Standing alone it does nothing, which is precisely the point: it is an engine piece that demands a critical mass of cheap artifacts to justify its slot, and rewards exactly the kind of deck that treats casting artifacts as its default action rather than an occasional one.
