Eminence was the mechanic built to answer a specific complaint about the Commander tribal experience: your commander sat in the command zone doing nothing until you paid to cast it, and a tribe's payoff was often locked behind that payment. This grandfather of the vampire bloodline resolves that tension by making the command zone itself the engine. The token-generation trigger fires whether the general is on the battlefield or waiting to be cast, so the deck starts snowballing before you have spent a single mana on the six-drop, and the attack-step anthem that scales the whole board rewards you for keeping the swarm on the table rather than trading it away. The construction is deliberately self-feeding: each other vampire spell you cast makes a 1/1 that becomes another body counting toward the pump, and first strike plus haste means the general can crash in the turn it lands and hand out counters immediately rather than telegraphing a slow buildup. What makes the design notable is that eminence never returned as a keyword. It was a one-off solution to the command-zone-idleness problem, and this card is its clearest and most aggressive expression, a tribal lord whose value clock runs regardless of removal because the most important half of it lives in a zone opponents cannot touch.
