Eager First-Year

Creature — Human Wizard1 generic manaWhite mana

Magecraft with nothing to distract from the incentive: every instant or sorcery you cast, and every copy of one, hands this two-drop another point of power for the turn. Note the trigger word: casting, not resolving, so even a countered spell still feeds the pump. That single-mindedness is the design. A spellslinger shell already runs a density of cantrips and burn, and it wants a threat that scales with that density without asking the deck to warp around a build-around cost; a 2/2 at the base of the curve that grows as the deck does its normal thing answers exactly that request. The restraint that keeps it fair lives in the buff's shape: power only, expiring each turn, so the toughness never moves and the creature stays as fragile as it started even on the turn it swings for six. It is a glass cannon by construction, and copy effects are where the ceiling sits, since a single duplicated spell triggers the ability twice off one card. But the feed is narrow: only instants and sorceries count, so a turn where those spells don't come leaves an unbuffed 2/2 doing nothing. The card rewards the deck for being what it already wanted to be rather than reshaping it, an entry-level payoff whose worth tracks directly with how many cheap spells surround it.
