The recursion here is deliberately slow, and that slowness is the cost. Instead of returning a card to hand (Raise Dead, Disentomb) or straight to the battlefield, the trigger only sets a card on top of your library, meaning the value is delayed by a full draw step and tangled up with whatever else you want to draw that turn. That deferral is what justifies stapling the effect to a sturdy 4/6 body for six mana: you get a real blocker now and your buried artifact or creature back next turn, rather than a flimsy creature that hands you the card immediately. The dual target line (artifact or creature) is the wrinkle that gives it a wider reach than most black recursion, which tends to ignore artifacts entirely; recovering a fallen vehicle or a sacrificed equipment is on the table, not just rebuying a creature. It is a grindy, attrition-minded design rather than a combo enabler: the top-of-library placement specifically blocks the loops that instant return-to-hand effects enable, because you cannot replay the card until you draw it. What you are paying six mana for is resilience and a body, with the graveyard recursion as a rider that rewards patience over tempo.
