The 1/3 body announces the real plan. This is a defender that trades up the instant it connects, punishing anyone who attacks into it and stamping bigger counters onto whatever it touches. Pour enough mana into one exchange and the opposing board comes out diminished or dead, with survivors carrying their reduced stats into the following turns. The activation accepts red-or-white hybrid mana, which is the design's clever lever: the deck only needs red to cast the creature, but white sources can fuel the pump once it lands. That hybrid pip belongs to the enemy-color experiments of its era, letting a red creature sip white mana without obligating the deck to play white at all. Wither as a mechanic was always built for attrition over tempo, asking you to win the long arithmetic of the board rather than the race, and a creature that escalates its own counters mid-combat shows exactly what the keyword was reaching for: not a single big swing, but a war of subtraction the opponent cannot recover from.
