Drownyard Lurker

Creature — Eldrazi Trilobite7 generic mana

The trick here is that the trigger fires on cast or cycle, which quietly separates the card's floor from its ceiling. A 7/7 vigilance body for seven is unremarkable ballast; the design's actual work is in making the discard mode do something other than replace itself. Most cyclers hand you a card and nothing else. This one leaves behind a mana-producing body when it goes to the graveyard, so the two-and-a-blue cycling cost effectively buys a fresh card and a deferred colorless mana rock in the same motion. That reframes the card from "big dumb beater with an escape hatch" into a flexible resource that never sits dead: early, you crack it for the draw and bank the Eldrazi Spawn toward a later cast; late, you play the body and still net the token. The Spawn's sacrifice-for-colorless clause also nudges it toward Eldrazi shells where that mana is fuel rather than filler, tying an otherwise generic filler creature to a specific engine. It is a study in giving a top-end creature a second identity so that neither draw ever regrets it: the vigilance and the size are the reward for hard-casting, and the token is the consolation prize for not.
