Drossforge Bridge

Artifact Land

Every dual land in the older formats trades resilience against convenience somewhere, and this cycle picks its poison bluntly: it always enters tapped, ceding the first turn's speed, and buys that turn back as durability. Indestructibility is what makes the trade pay. It means the land shrugs off Shatter, mass destruction, and the targeted land-destruction effects that have punished nonbasics since players first learned to attack manabases; a wasted artifact-removal spell bounces off it. Note what indestructibility does not cover: a permanent can still be sacrificed, and edict-style "sacrifice a land" effects put it in the graveyard regardless, so the resilience is against destruction specifically, not removal in general. The artifact type is the other half of the identity, and it cuts both ways. It fuels affinity math and every effect that counts artifacts, turning a fixing land into a payoff enabler; it also hands artifact-hate a legal target, which is exactly the interaction indestructibility is built to neutralize. What emerges is a black-red source engineered for a specific kind of deck: one that wants graveyard-agnostic mana it can rely on to survive disruption, doesn't need untapped color early, and gets extra mileage from the fact that its lands read as artifacts. The enters-tapped tax is the price the whole cycle pays to stay honest against the fastest curves, which is where it draws its line.
