Dreamstalker Manticore
A red creature that rewards you for playing on the wrong turn. The trigger only fires on your opponents' turns, and only on your first spell there, which puts the whole design on the axis of instant-speed interaction: it wants a hand full of flash creatures, combat tricks, and cheap instants held up rather than dumped on your own main phase. That is an unusual demand to make of red, a color built around sorcery-speed aggression, and the reward is modest (one damage, pinged wherever you like) which keeps the incentive honest rather than backbreaking. The 4/2 body tells the rest of the story: an aggressive rate that trades poorly and dies to almost anything, so the ping is meant to accrue value across the turns it survives, not to anchor a long game. What it really does is convert a reactive posture into incremental reach, letting an instant-heavy red deck chip away at planeswalkers, tokens, and opposing creatures while its pilot spends the opponent's turn doing the thing red usually cannot afford to do: wait.
