Dramatic Rescue
The two-mana bounce spell with a small life cushion stapled on, and the stapling is the entire reason it exists rather than being a single-color effect. Mono-blue has bounced creatures back to hand cheaply since the game's earliest sets; what white contributes here is the two life, which reframes a tempo card into a defensive one. The same instant that resets your opponent's freshly cast threat also buys back your own creature in response to removal, untaps your blockers' worth of life total, and walks back an attack you can no longer profitably block. That symmetry is what bounce trades on: it never permanently answers anything, so its value lives entirely in the timing window. Cast on your own end step it banks two life and resets an enters-the-battlefield trigger; cast in combat it fogs a single attacker by removing the blocker math; cast in response to a kill spell it saves a creature and gains you two life. The life gain looks like an afterthought, but it is what separates this from a purely tempo-negative play: against aggression, returning a creature you were going to lose anyway and gaining two is a real swing rather than a wash. A modest card built honestly, doing the thing two-color instants in these guilds were made to do.
