Dowsing Device // Geode Grotto
A haste-granting pump trigger stapled to an artifact-count payoff, built so the two front-side clauses feed each other: every artifact that enters lets you give up to one creature +1/+0 and haste, and once your artifact board crosses four, the enabler retires itself into a mana source with a scaling finisher. The front side wants you to flood the board with cheap artifacts to keep the triggers coming, but the flip is gated at four or more artifacts, so the card only converts once you have already done the work the front side was rewarding. It is a payoff that arrives after the payoff. The back half changes register entirely: Geode Grotto is a red-producing Cave whose activated ability scales its haste-and-pump bonus by your artifact count, but only as a sorcery, which strips it of the ambush potential the front side's any-artifact-enters trigger implicitly had. That sorcery-speed clamp is what buys back the danger of a land that can turn one creature into a lethal threat out of nowhere: you can see it coming a turn early. The package rewards a deck that treats artifacts as a resource to be counted rather than individual cards to be valued, and the transform here does structural work most double-faced designs skip: it lets a single card be the engine early and the mana-plus-finisher late without asking the deck to draw two different pieces.
