Doomskar Oracle

Creature — Human Cleric2 generic manaWhite mana

Lifegain that keys off the number of spells you cast, rather than instant-speed casting or every noncreature trigger, decides the shell this belongs in: it wants a low, dense curve where chaining a cheap spell behind a cheaper one is the default line, not a control deck that casts one big thing per turn. The foretell cost then closes the loop on itself. Exile this on a slow turn for the flat cost, and later cast it from exile for a single white: that cast still counts as a spell, so a card that pays you off for casting twice in a turn also helps manufacture the very cast that triggers other velocity payoffs alongside it. The 3/2 body is what keeps the whole package from drifting into pure durdle. It puts a real clock on the board while the life total climbs, so the effect reads as an aggressive attrition piece that grinds you out of range rather than a defensive lifegain engine that stalls. Spell-count lifegain has appeared in various shapes over the years, usually tethered to instant-speed casting or to noncreature spells specifically; hanging the payoff on a repeated second cast, and folding that payoff into a foretell body that can itself supply the trigger, pushes this past the rider tier and into genuine engine territory.
