Disturbing Conversion

Most power-reduction Auras hand you a fixed number; this one grows itself. Enchant a creature, each player mills two, and the pair added to the enchanted creature's controller's yard immediately counts toward the -X/-0 penalty, so the Aura partly bootstraps its own effect on entry. Flash is what turns that into combat interference: cast it once an attacker is committed or a blocker declared and you can drop a threat's power to nothing at the moment the swing decides the game. Because the reduction sits on an enchantment that stays put, it persists while the Aura holds, and the number recalculates whenever the controller's graveyard changes size, drifting larger across a grindy game as spells and creatures pile into the bin. Note what it never touches: toughness. This kills nothing by itself. It is suppression and tempo, a power-only clamp whose ceiling scales with a resource you never pay for up front. The dependency worth holding onto is subtler than it first looks: the penalty keys off the enchanted creature's controller, so a control-changing effect that hands the creature to a player with an empty graveyard collapses the -X toward zero without ever detaching the Aura. Bounce or blink is a different story, peeling the enchantment off entirely rather than resetting its math. That makes it a graveyard-matters card in disguise, most at home where both yards already fill on their own.
