Reanimation with a cost curve wired to the same graveyard it feeds. The base rate is unremarkable: five mana to return one creature is a price plenty of decks would rather pay elsewhere. The discount clause rewrites that entirely, because it counts every creature that died this turn, yours or not: chump blockers, combat trades, and above all a board sacrificed to fuel the spell. A wide aristocrats turn where three or four bodies hit the yard can strip the generic cost down to nothing, leaving just the floor, and the reanimation target is often one of those very creatures. That is the tension it resolves. Reanimation usually asks you to fill a graveyard passively and then pay full freight to cash it in; this ties the reduction to the exact combat-and-sacrifice activity a graveyard-value deck already generates, so the more your turn resembles a bloodbath, the cheaper the payoff. Note the discount only ever touches the generic pips, so the colored commitment stays fixed no matter how many creatures die. That holds for the flashback line too: the reduction applies to alternative costs, so a graveyard cast can be shaved down by the same deaths, meaning one card can rebuild a board across two turns and pay a discounted toll each time before exiling. Outside a deck that manufactures deaths on purpose, the discount rarely fires, and the full price shows what the effect is worth without it.
