The dimir tribal anchor that made Zombies more than a beatdown deck. The anthem half is the obvious draw: every other Zombie gets bigger the moment this resolves, and the deathtouch on its own body means even a 2/2 trades up against anything in combat. But the death-trigger is the part that reshaped what the tribe could be. Once another Zombie dies and pings an opponent for a life, the archetype stops needing to win by attacking and starts winning by attrition: sacrifice fodder, recursive tokens, and chump blocks all become incremental burn. Two of these on the field turn most Zombie deaths into two points, which is how a board that looks like it is losing the race can close a game without ever swinging. That dual identity, aggressive lord on the front and drain engine on the back, is the design that let blue-black Zombies straddle aggro and grind in a way a pure anthem creature never could. The blue in its cost is the unusual note; Zombies have always belonged to black, but pairing the tribe with a color built around card advantage and recursion is exactly what the death-payoff wants. A deck that intends to lose creatures and keep generating more is asking a fundamentally different question than "how do I make my team bigger," and this is the card built to answer it.
