Dictate of Erebos

A Flash variant of the effect Grave Pact established, and the Flash is not a convenience but a weapon. The original was a flat enchantment that sat on the board taxing every trade; this line's contribution is instant-speed deployment, and on this effect that timing rewrites how you approach a combat step. The window it opens is the block you would not otherwise punish: you flash it down after blockers are declared but before damage, and if any of your creatures dies in the exchange, the trigger forces an additional sacrifice on top of what combat already resolved. That is the tempo swing the Flash buys, the original never could. What it imposes once it resolves is a one-sided edict that hits each opponent whenever your own creatures start dying. Every death you can manufacture becomes a sacrifice that cannot be redirected, fizzled by hexproof, or pointed away with targeted protection, because the mechanism is an edict, not removal: it taxes the board itself rather than requiring aim. The opponent still chooses which creature to give up (a chump token before a real threat, when they have the option), so it is not a scalpel; it is a grind. And its price is inherent to everything in the Grave Pact line: it does nothing the turn nothing dies, so it wants a deck already eager to sacrifice and trade. The more freely you feed it bodies, the faster it strips an opposing board, which makes it a payoff for attrition rather than a brake on it.
