Green's fight-adjacent removal has always had a rules problem: symmetrical fights hand your creature the same beating it hands theirs, which is why the color kept iterating toward one-way variants. This one takes the cleaner side of that line. Your creature deals its power to their creature or planeswalker and takes nothing back, so the trade tilts entirely in your favor and the door to planeswalkers (which fights normally cannot touch) opens up. What earns the second line of text is the shape of the deal: green pays for its removal in card economy and in the risk that your attacker eats a combat trick or removal in response, and the death-triggered life gain is a modest kicker rather than the point. The real design tension is dependency: this wants a sized-up board already in place, and both halves of the spell can be answered by killing that creature before the damage resolves. That makes it a follow-up rather than an opener, a way for a green board to convert an existing power advantage into a clean kill and reach past the battlefield to a planeswalker the color usually has no answer for. Everything about it points at the same job: reward the deck that is already ahead on stats, and give it a rare piece of interaction with the permanent type green is worst at killing.
