Descendants' Path
Free creatures, paid for not with mana but with consistency of theme: the engine only fires when the revealed card shares a creature type with something you already control. That tribal lock is the whole transaction. It converts deck homogeneity into a recurring discount, rewarding the player who has narrowed their creature base to a single type until each upkeep flip is almost always a hit. The cost lives in the variance: a noncreature, an off-type body, or simple bad luck buries the card and you get nothing that turn, with no way to dig past it. There is no selection, no scry, no second look; you accept whatever your upkeep reveal hands you and rebuild for the next one. As a value engine it occupies an odd niche, demanding the kind of tribal purity that the most synergy-dense decks already chase, then handing them a ritual that occasionally vomits out a creature for free. The structural relatives are cards that mine the deck from above (Future Sight, the cascade family), but here the payoff is gated by tribe rather than by mana value. The reward scales directly with how committed you are to a single creature type, and the engine offers nothing to a deck that hedges its bodies across two or three lineages. The discount is real, but it is conditional on a deckbuilding decision you have to make long before the enchantment ever sees play.
