Pacifism leaves the body intact and just bolts the door: the creature cannot attack or block, but its abilities and any non-combat damage stay live. This Aura takes the opposite route. The enchanted creature is free to attack, free to block, free to do everything it normally does, and all of that damage simply evaporates. That distinction matters more than the rates suggest. A creature that pings, that deals fight damage, that burns you on a tap ability: all of it routes through "damage that would be dealt," and all of it gets zeroed out, regardless of how the creature is being used. The trade-off is that the body is still on the battlefield doing the things Pacifism would have stopped: it can chump-block, it can crew, it can trigger on attacking, it can wear other Auras, and a creature with deathtouch that deals no damage no longer threatens anything in combat anyway. It is a neutering effect rather than a containment one, answering the question of "what does this thing's damage do" rather than "where can this thing go." For a creature whose entire threat is the damage it deals, that is a complete shutdown; for one whose value lives in its triggers or its presence, the lock is partial by design.
