Deep Freeze
Removal that doesn't remove. Where a kill spell answers the body, this Aura rewrites it: whatever it lands on becomes a blue Wall with base 0/4, defender, and no other abilities whatsoever. A creature whose value lives in its activated ability, its keyword, or its triggered text loses all of that the moment the Aura attaches, while the thing keeps sitting on the battlefield as a chump that can no longer swing. That ability-stripping is the surgical part of the package: against a commander whose whole identity is one game-ending activation, silencing the text can matter more than trading the body, since killing the creature just invites a replacement. But the layer system sets a hard limit on how thorough the lockdown is. Base power and toughness are established before power-and-toughness modifiers apply, so a creature wearing an equipment or already buffed by an aura keeps every stat boost stacked on top of the 0/4: this is a poor answer to a suited-up threat, where unattaching the gear by killing the host is almost always the cleaner play. The cost is the cost of Auras everywhere: a two-for-one waiting to happen, undone by a bounce, a sacrifice, or any trade of the useless body. The lineage runs through Ovinize, Imprison, and the long tail of "shut a creature off" effects blue and white have printed for decades; the conversion into a defender-bearing Wall is what makes this one stick where a stat-only neuter would let the creature keep attacking.
