The green entry's particular trick is that its full mode is itself an instant, not a sorcery. Both halves share one timing axis: whether you are spreading four +1/+1 counters across your entire board or cycling for a card and dropping four onto a single creature, you can do it at end of an opponent's turn or mid-combat. That uniformity is the quiet payoff, since floor and ceiling want to be held for the same moment. Crucially, these counters are permanent, not a transient combat pump; they survive the end step and stack with whatever the creature already carries, so a cycled trigger turns a lone attacker into a lasting clock rather than a one-turn ambush. The cycling cost is steep and not something you reach for in the opening turns, but it converts an otherwise unaffordable nine-mana spell into a midgame play: a counter-spread on one body with a replacement card attached.
