Deathcap Cultivator

A two-drop mana dork that fixes for the Golgari pairing, ramping into the midrange threats that color combination wants while building toward a second mode it has to earn. The tap ability is the floor; the delirium clause is the payoff. Stock four card types in your graveyard and the 2/1 stops being a body attackers ignore and becomes one they refuse to attack into: deathtouch on a creature this small turns it into a rattlesnake, a blocker that takes anything down with it when it blocks. It will not survive that exchange (one toughness dies to almost any swing), but the threat of an even trade against a much larger creature is enough to freeze a board, and it does that proactively in a way raw stats never could. The delirium threshold is the cost of the upgrade, and it demands a specific texture from the cards surrounding it: self-mill, fetchlands, cheap creatures and spells feeding the yard as a matter of course. It is the unusual ramp creature whose late-game text outweighs its early-game mana: by the time four types are in the bin you have probably stopped needing the acceleration and started needing a piece that warps how the opponent attacks. The result is a card that scales with the graveyard rather than the board, and rewards decks already filling the yard with a defensive deterrent that costs no extra cards to assemble.
