Death Match

Enchantment3 generic manaBlack mana

The trigger belongs to whoever played the creature, and that single word in the oracle text is what makes this enchantment a contract rather than a tool. Every creature that enters hands its own controller, friend or foe, the option to shrink a target by -3/-3 until end of turn. On your turn it works the way you want: each body you deploy comes with a small removal rider you point wherever it helps. On their turn it works against you exactly as cleanly, and an opponent who reads the board will time their own creature drops to clip the threat you most want to keep. The card therefore asks the controller to skew the math: out-produce the table in enters-the-battlefield events and the -3/-3 stream points your way more often than not, which is why token generators and repeatable creature recursion turn it into a slow engine rather than a liability. It grants the option rather than forcing it, so a quiet turn never whittles your own board down, but that same gentleness makes it a passive, board-state grind rather than a clean answer you can hold up. The -3/-3 figure is the load-bearing choice: enough to mop up the small bodies that flood a stalled board, not enough to trouble anything genuinely large, so it rewards the player manufacturing bodies in bunches and punishes the one who mistook it for one-sided removal.
