Dead Reckoning

Sorcery1 generic manaBlack manaBlack mana

The clever part is what fuels it. The removal is paid for by tucking a creature card from your graveyard back onto your library, which means the damage costs no extra resource beyond the sorcery itself: you spend a card to cast it, but the ammunition is salvaged from the bin rather than drawn from hand. The bigger the power of the card you bury, the bigger the hit, so this rewards high-power black creatures that hit the graveyard early. A dead finisher or a milled fatty becomes a way to gun down an opposing blocker, and the body you select becomes the card you redraw next turn, so the spell is at its best when you would have been happy to draw that creature again anyway, or when the yard is deep enough that recycling one is painless. As graveyard-as-resource designs go, it sits on the recursion side of the ledger rather than the disposal side: most graveyard payoffs return the body to the battlefield, while this one converts a creature's power into a one-shot removal effect and files the card back into your deck for later. Note the ceiling: it only ever points at a creature, never a player, so it kills blockers and clears the path for attackers but never closes a game from across the table on its own.
