Dark Hatchling

Creature — Horror4 generic manaBlack manaBlack mana

Removal stapled to a flying body, sold at the rate this era set for it: six mana, two of them black, for a 3/3 flier and a guaranteed kill on something that isn't black. That can't-be-regenerated rider matters more than it reads, because in this era regeneration was the standard way creatures shrugged off destruction effects, and the nonblack restriction is the genre tax black creatures paid to keep their own kind off the target list. What separates this from a straight removal spell is the timing collapse it performs: the kill rides the enters-the-battlefield trigger, so the same six mana that clears a blocker also leaves a flier on the table that pressures life totals and survives to do it again if you can return it to your hand. That packaging is what made the card a natural blink-and-recursion target long before "value creature" was a settled term: anything that flickers it or buys it back turns a one-time removal spell into a repeatable one, with a 3/3 evasive body thrown in each time. The body is forgettable on its own; what makes the card sing is how often you can re-trigger the entry.
