Daring Fiendbonder

The 5/1 haste body is a decoy. Nobody sleeves a fragile Human Warlock that trades down to almost any blocker for the damage it might connect on a lucky swing; the payload is what happens after it dies. From the graveyard you exile it, pay one black and one generic, and staple an indestructible counter onto a creature: a permanent shield against destroy effects and lethal-damage removal, the kind of protection that persists through a board wipe and stays fixed to the creature that carries it. The attack-each-combat clause is the tax on the front half, marching the Warlock into unfavorable combat until it obligingly dies and unlocks the ability you actually paid for. That self-destructive attacker is the design trick worth naming. A one-shot graveyard activation for a permanent buff is familiar structure, but bolting it to a body engineered to speed its own trip to the yard reframes the card as a two-part machine: deploy it to threaten a swing or bait a block, welcome its death, then cash it in once the graveyard is stocked. The sorcery-speed clamp on the activation denies any surprise-blocker blowout, forcing you to bank the protection on your own turn rather than saving a creature mid-combat. Note the exact boundary of what the counter buys: it stops the creature from being destroyed, so it survives combat and board wipes to block or swing again, but it never touches exile, sacrifice, or toughness-reduction, and the damage that would have killed it still resolves in full. What kills through an indestructible counter is not more damage but the growing catalog of effects that route around destruction entirely.
