Permission stapled to a body, with all the friction that implies. The trade Wizards demanded for putting a counterspell on a permanent: the effect is now an activated ability gated behind tapping and sacrifice, which means a turn of summoning sickness before it can fire, vulnerability to removal in the window before you need it, and a graveyard-bound activation that you only ever get to use once. The 1/1 frame is almost incidental; this is held countermagic that happens to threaten one point of damage if your opponent never casts anything worth stopping. What the creature shell buys in exchange is tutorability and recursion. Permission spells are the genre most resistant to being fetched or reused, because they live entirely in the moment they resolve and offer nothing to a creature-finding effect or a reanimation engine. Bolting the same answer onto a Human Wizard moves it into a different economy: it can be searched up with the same tools that find any creature, set up in advance rather than drawn in the moment, and returned from the graveyard after it has done its job. The required sacrifice is the leash on that economy. You cannot blink it for repeated value (the tap-and-sacrifice cost sends it to the yard, and a fresh copy would be summoning-sick anyway); each activation is genuinely the body's last act. The rate is plainly worse than a clean counter on any single use; the value is in everything a creature can be made to do that an instant cannot.
