Legendary Creature — Gorgon Wizard4 generic manaBlack manaGreen manaBlue mana

Trading the natural draw step for a guaranteed refill to seven is a deceptively even swap that disguises a genuine engine. The clause is asymmetrical with itself: at upkeep top the hand back up to a full grip, then skip your draw step. On a turn where you have not spent down, the draw is small or nothing; on a turn after you have emptied your hand, it can be three, four, five cards at once. That makes the body reward dumping resources rather than hoarding them, which is the inverse of how most card-advantage cards ask you to play. The 4/4 deathtouch is the leash that keeps the engine from being free: it trades into anything on the ground but blocks nothing meaningful from the air, so the threat it presents is incidental to the value it generates. Sultai (a black-green-blue identity that was not yet named when this kind of card first appeared) had few legendary creatures pulling its three colors together, and this one anchored the wedge by leaning entirely on attrition rather than tempo. The seven mana is the honest cost of an effect that, left alone, simply does not stop generating cards.
