Cytoplast Manipulator
Graft was a counter-sharing mechanic built around generosity: most Simic creatures used their +1/+1 counters to grow the team, distributing power as new bodies arrived. This one weaponizes that pool in the opposite direction. Once a creature anywhere on the battlefield carries a +1/+1 counter (whether yours or an opponent's, whether placed by graft, a saproling lord, or any other counter effect), tapping for blue steals it outright, and the theft holds for as long as this stays in play. The design tension is elegant: graft is normally a buff you choose to hand out, but here the same counters that make creatures bigger also paint a target on them. Even an opponent's own counter-based deck feeds the engine, since control follows the counter, not the color. The body itself contributes nothing in combat: it enters as a 0/0 carrying two counters from graft, and those exist to be donated to a new arrival or, more pointedly, to seed a steal target if nothing else is available. That self-sufficiency is the wrinkle that separates it from a simple control magic on a stick. It does not wait for a board state to develop; it can manufacture the condition for its own ability and then repeat the heist every turn the mana is available, slowly hollowing out a counters-heavy board one creature at a time.
