Crushing Canopy

The two halves of this modal answer share a strange logic: the only creatures it touches are the ones in the air, and the only permanents it touches otherwise are enchantments. That pairing is not arbitrary. Green has historically been allowed to swat fliers (it cannot block them well, so the color gets to shoot them down with reach creatures and instants) and allowed to unmake enchantments as part of its naturalist clean-up duty. Crushing Canopy bundles both of those green-sanctioned answers into one card, which is the entire reason it exists: it patches two of green's classic blind spots without ever letting the color near a ground creature, the thing green is supposed to fight in combat rather than remove. The cost is that each mode is conditional. Against a deck with no fliers and no enchantments it is a blank, and even against a fair board the flying clause only fires when the opponent has cooperated by playing an evasive threat. That narrowness is the price for instant speed and for green getting to kill a creature at all. The closest spiritual relatives are the green "bow" effects that hit only fliers (Plummet and its kin) stapled to a narrow enchantment-destruction clause on the other half, so the player who maindecks it is hedging two threats with one slot rather than committing to either.
