Crown-Hunter Hireling

The monarchy mechanic hands the crown's holder a card at the beginning of their own end step and passes the title to whoever connects with combat damage on the monarch. Cards built around it tend to pick a lane: grant the crown cheaply, or punish you for clutching it. This one signs both halves of the contract in a single transaction, and the second line of text is where the deal actually lives. Entering the battlefield to make you monarch is the bribe; the clause that it can't attack unless the defending player is the monarch is the bill. A 4/4 that refuses to swing into anyone who isn't currently wearing the crown polices the table's appetite for the throne rather than dealing damage on its own terms. The logic snaps into place the moment the crown changes hands: when someone else seizes the monarchy, your Ogre becomes a legal attacker aimed straight at them, threatening to claw the title back through combat. This holds down to heads-up play, where the opponent who takes the crown immediately becomes the defending player the Hireling is allowed to hit. Left holding the crown yourself, it stands as a wall whose own arrival painted the target: the body that crowned you is the body everyone wants to attack. Hold the throne and stay honest, or watch a 4/4 come to collect it. This was never a beater; it is leverage with a stat line.
