Crabapple Cohort
The conditional is the entire pitch: a 4/4 for five mana sits below the curve, but ask it to stand next to a single other green creature and it becomes a 5/5, which is exactly where a five-drop wants to be. The clause checks the board state continuously rather than at a single moment, so the bonus comes and goes as your other green bodies live and die. That is a green-aggro lord pattern turned inward, except the lord is buffing only itself, and only when it has a green companion in play. Common-rarity creatures from this era often carried these small static conditions to reward mono-color or near-mono board states without the deckbuilding tax of a tribal payoff; the body grows the moment a second green creature joins it and shrinks again the instant that creature dies. There is no upside beyond the single point of size, no evasion, no recursion, just a Treefolk Warrior that wants company and rewards it modestly. Built as a green-decks-only common beater, it fills the curve-topping creature slot in a deck that intends to flood the board with green creatures anyway, and asks nothing of you that you were not already doing.
