White's answer to the board wipe you can't stop, folded into an instant that treats the wrath as a temporary inconvenience. Where a Fog protects your creatures from combat and a counterspell stops the spell from resolving, this lets the destruction happen and then quietly undoes it: everything you control that dies this turn is exiled and marched back at the next end step, tokens excepted, since tokens exiled by the replacement cease to exist. The design lives in that replacement clause. It fires on any permanent leaving the battlefield for the graveyard, not just creatures, so an artifact or enchantment caught in the same sweep comes home too, and it doesn't care what killed them: mass removal, targeted removal, sacrifice effects, combat, all rerouted through exile. Foretell turns it from a reactive scramble into a genuine trap. Setting it face down for two ahead of time hides the answer and drops the cost to cast to , so the player holding up the mana to blow up your board is walking into a two-mana blowout they can't read off your open cards. The one real cost is timing: the permanents come back at the beginning of the next end step, not immediately, so anything with summoning sickness stays sick, and a creature returning at your own end step won't attack until your following turn. What you're buying is preservation, not tempo.
