Connive // Concoct

Two effects Dimir has always wanted, welded to a single card so you buy the early half and the late half in one purchase. Connive is the front end: theft with a strict power ceiling, so it takes mana dorks, one-drop hatebears, and the small aggressive bodies a fast curve leans on, but never the thing you actually covet. That two-or-less clause is the restriction the effect pays for: it keeps the steal cheap, and it explains why the back half has no size limit at all. Concoct is the payoff, filtering three deep before dragging any creature out of the graveyard onto the battlefield, no ceiling and no cost past the casting. The surveil-before-return sequence is the trick worth noticing, because you can bin a fat creature into the top of your own dig and immediately cheat it into play, folding setup and execution into one sorcery rather than two turns. Split cards like this trade flexibility for a small tax: you carry both modes on one draw, so the cheap steal never sits dead when you topdeck it late and the expensive reanimation never clogs your hand early. Pick the half the board calls for, spend the card, and it goes to the graveyard like any other spell. As a compression of what the guild wants, selection, theft, and pulling the dead back on your own schedule, it is unusually tidy.
