The clause worth reading carefully is who chooses: the controller of the permanent that entered picks the target, and the thing they give up is always that fresh permanent itself. So when you resolve a creature, you choose which of an opponent's creatures to drag across, and you surrender the one you just played to do it. That makes the card a deliberate downgrade machine in your favor if you feed it correctly. Drop a token, a worthless artifact, a creature you do not mind parting with, then reach across and take their premium permanent in exchange. Stack a board full of junk and every entering trigger becomes a one-sided dispossession. Played carelessly, it bleeds you all the same, because their permanents entering let them strip yours on the same terms. This sits at the demanding end of red's permanent-stealing designs, the ones that treat control as a churning resource rather than a fixed possession: the card does nothing in a vacuum and punishes the sloppy, but feed the type-matching clause correctly and it peels off an opponent's best permanents one entering trigger at a time.
