Compulsory Rest

Pacifism with a release valve. The classic version of this effect simply switched a creature off, stranding it as a permanent the enchanting player could ignore. The wrinkle here is the granted sacrifice ability: the shut-down creature gains an outlet to remove itself for two life. Because that ability is granted to the creature, only its controller can pay the activation. The enchanting player buys the shutdown but never the cleanup; what they hand across the table is a decision. The creature's controller can cash the body in for two life and a death trigger of their own (feeding aristocrat payoffs, graveyard recursion, or anything that wants a creature to hit the yard), or leave it parked and take the life at leisure. Either way, the answer never resolves into a clean removal spell, only a stalled threat the other side gets to script. The cost of that arrangement is the tax every "can't attack or block" Aura pays: the creature stays on the battlefield with its triggered abilities, its mana production, its tap effects, everything that doesn't route through the red zone. Against a beater whose danger lives in combat math, that price is invisible; against a value engine that never swings, the Aura barely registers. The granted sacrifice clause is the design admitting the tradeoff, but it puts the bargaining chip on the wrong side of the table for the answer to ever feel finished.
