Combat Thresher

Artifact Creature — Construct7 generic mana

Two creatures share this card, sold at two prices, and both replace themselves the moment they land. Pay the full seven and a 3/3 double striker cantrips onto the table; pay the cheaper prototype cost and a 1/1 double striker cantrips instead. The card-draw trigger is what keeps the small mode honest: a fragile early body that would otherwise be a dead investment instead cycles itself, so casting on the cheap end never costs you a card in hand. That is the whole point of the prototype knob here, giving a single slot a floor low enough to play early and a ceiling high enough to matter late without spending two card slots to cover both. Double strike is the throughline that ties the two modes together, since even the 1/1 threatens meaningful damage the instant a pump spell or a piece of equipment reaches it. The seven-mana profile reads unremarkable straight off the type line, and that is by design: the full cost is a backstop you rarely pay, not the plan. What the construct actually offers is a deferred decision, answering "how much mana do I have right now" at the moment of casting rather than forcing that question at deckbuilding time.
