Four toughness on a two-power frame for three mana is green doing one unglamorous job: holding the ground. The 2/4 stops most aggressive two-drops cold while still poking for two on the crack-back, the stat distribution that defines what a green creature deck does before it has assembled a plan. There is no ability to parse because the body is the design: a defensive curve-filler that keeps a creature on the table without spending a follow-up card, the sort of vanilla beast green has printed in nearly every era to give a board-based deck something solid to stand on early. It will not win a game on its own, and it was never built to. It buys the turns the cards above it need.
