Cognivore

Creature — Lhurgoyf6 generic manaBlue manaBlue mana

Where the Lhurgoyf line normally feeds on bodies (Lhurgoyf and Mortivore count creatures in graveyards), this one counts the card type that piles up fastest in the decks least interested in casting an eight-mana flier: instant-heavy control. That mismatch is the design tension. A blue mage churning through counterspells and removal spends a whole game filling the only fuel source this creature reads, then arrives with a payoff that is enormous but slow and double-blue at the top of the curve. The graveyard-wide scope matters: every instant in all graveyards counts, so a board full of spent fight spells from both players inflates it, and the size swings turn to turn as cards leave the yard via exile or reshuffle. Flying is the part that turns the body into a threat rather than a wall, but the toughness is just as live for an opponent trying to race it. The honest read is that the rate asks for a specific kind of game: long, grindy, spell-dense, the sort where graveyards bulge and an eight-mana finisher has time to land. Among the creatures that read your discard pile as a scoreboard, this is the one keyed to the cards a control deck was already going to play anyway, which is both its appeal and its constraint.
