Cloud, Midgar Mercenary
Two white mana for a tutor-on-a-stick is already a deck on its own; the second line is what turns it into a mercenary worth hiring. The enters-the-battlefield search pulls any Equipment straight to hand, so the body is never naked for long. But the doubling clause is the real design statement: once Cloud is equipped, every triggered ability it owns and every triggered ability of its gear fires twice. Equipment that does work on attack, on damage, or on a creature dying suddenly does it in stereo. This is a deliberate inversion of how equipment usually scales. Most swords are linear: one trigger, one effect, repeated each combat. Cloud rewards stacking high-trigger-density gear and then letting the multiplier compound, which means the deckbuilding pressure points away from a single best sword and toward a board of overlapping triggers. The fragility of the body is what balances the rate: strip the gear, kill the creature, or simply remove a 2/1 with one toughness, and the doubling evaporates along with it. Committing equipment to so small a target dares the table to break the link before the triggers pile up. It is a clean expression of the Buster Sword fantasy translated into a Magic mechanic: one warrior, one oversized weapon, every swing hitting harder than it should.
