Clergy en-Vec

Creature — Human Cleric1 generic manaWhite mana

Tap the cleric, save a point, repeat: the pitch is repeatability, since this fires every turn the body lives rather than spending itself once like a prevention spell. The design is deliberately tiny. A single point, prevented one tap at a time, with no upkeep tax and no escalation written to fence it in. The 1/1 body is the limiting factor: it dies to nearly anything that swings at it, so the prevention frequently has to go toward protecting the cleric that generates it, a self-referential loop that rarely keeps pace with a real clock. The targeting reads as flexible (it can blunt combat damage, soften a burn spell, or absorb a ping aimed anywhere), but each activation buys back only one point, so the effect trickles instead of walling. White utility from this period often looked better on the page than across the table, and this is a clean example: a value-grinding cleric that wanted a board state slow enough for one prevented point per turn to accumulate into something, a tempo fast decks of the era simply never offered.
